We are pleased to announce the XXXVIth Rencontres de Moriond on

Electronic Correlations: From meso- to nano-physics

to be held in Les Arcs 1800, Savoie, France, from Saturday January 20th to Saturday Januray 27th, 2001.

The purpose of the Rencontres de Moriond is to discuss recent findings and new ideas in mesoscopic physics and other areas of fundamental physics in a pleasant, relaxed and intimate atmosphere. The meeting intends to promote fruitful collaboration between experimentalists and theorists and between various institutions by bringing together  physicists in a beautiful and inspiring setting.

Les Arcs 1800 is a pleasant winter sport resort located in the French Alps, at 1800m alt., about 120km from Geneva and 12 km from Bourg-Saint-Maurice. The nearest railway station is Bourg-Saint-Maurice, trains (TGV) from Paris to Bourg-Saint-Maurice are quite convenient. The nearest international airports are Geneva, Lyon and Paris.

We are looking forward to seeing you in Les Arcs

T. Martin, G. Montambaux and J. Tran Thanh Van

PS : As usual, participants are expected to find funding for travel and accommodation on their own.

A limited number of grants for young  researchers from the European union, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway and Israel will be available.

SCIENTIFIC ORGANIZATION, ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

The topics which will be discussed include :

  •  Electronic transport at the nanoscopic scale: nanotubes, DNA, quantum wires, molecular wires and contacts
  • Manipulation of individual spins and charges: application to quantum computers
  • Quantum coherence
  • Chaos, disorder and interactions in confined systems
  • Strong interactions in low dimensional systems: fractional quantum Hall effect, Luttinger liquids
  • Hybrid systems (normal/supra/ferro...)
The detailed program of the meeting will be established according to the latest experimental and theoretical results at the time of the meeting.

If you wish to present new results in the framework of the program, please send a title and an abstract using the template abstract.tex to the following address
moriond@lps.u-psud.fr
as soon as possible and by November 1st, 2000, at the latest.
