Beamer (video projector)
For computer presentations, hooked to a dedicated laptop (PC windows 7 running MSoffice 2013, Adobe-acroread, OpenOffice, etc...)
Recommended display is 16/9 but 4/3 also works
Speakers may use their own laptops (but we clearly disfavour this to avoid dead time between presentations)
Plug adaptors
Italian plugs are different from the European standard. You can easily find an adaptor in local stores or borrow one at the conference secretariat.
Computer and pointer for presentations
Presentations are to be loaded in advance to the conference computer. Each session’s organisers will communicate about the preferred method (indico, cernbox, email, etc)
In case something went wrong or you did not load it already, bring it in your usb data stick at the beginning of the session and ask the chairperson to load it
A pointer is provided
About pointers:
A Swiss regulation bans the import, possession and use of laser pointers on Swiss soil, with the exception of Class 1 laser pointers with a conforming label stuck on. In case of doubt, we would recommend you, not to bring a laser pointer through the airport!

There are no professional printing facilities in place

The procedure is simplified if you apply for a tourism visa, which is enough to participate to the conference

Skiing
All material, rented or private, must be stored in the lockers of the hotel, unless you are in an apartment, where you store stuff in the balcony. There is a direct exit from the lockers to the skiing area.
A refundable deposit of 10 euros is asked at your arrival - don’t loose the key!
Rental
There are 2 rental shops offering similar discounts for Moriond participants, Berthod Sport (shop under the gondolas going to the left hand of the hotel second floor exit ) and Only ski (shop on the right hand side of the hotel second floor exit)
No need to pre-book, just show your conference name tag at the shop
Prices start at about 100€ for 6 days of basic gear rental. More detailed information will be shared in due time
Cost
Adding to the rental, there is the ski-pass
Approximate price for 6 afternoons skipass : 160 €, but you can buy it for less half-days or just for a day
Lessons
Ski lessons will be organised for beginner and intermediate levels. Snowboard lessons might also be organised provided enough persons sign up.
Price is 100 € for 10 hours (from Monday to Friday, 13:00 - 15:00) to be paid in cash at the conference secretariat.
You will need to rent your equipment (see prices above)
You will need a ski pass when you go uphill, which might not happen on the first days. Ask the teacher.
Basic things you need to bring: winter jacket/ ski trousers/ ski gloves/ thick socks/ goggles or sunglasses.
Let us know already if you are interested so we can pre-book the instructors. Details and payment will be dealt with upon arrival.
When buying a skipass you must have a civile liability insurance
Our insurance does not cover material break or loss, nor skiing outside the afternoon break, nor hors-piste accidents, nor accidental damages caused to others.
